It used to be easy to decorate your house-you just called your favorite decorator and made an appointment. Sure for some people this is still an option. Most of us, sadly, see decorating as being too expensive. Many people put off decorating their homes until they have more money because they think that home decorating is too expensive a project to begin. It is quite possible to decorate an entire home without ignoring your budget! These are all things that you can do in your spare time and with very little money.

Thrift stores are great. Saving money is the name of the game at thrift stores and second hand stores-especially for people with big projects like home decoration. Decorative items fill the shelves of these stores; you just have to know how to identify them. With some creativity you can turn just about anything you find while thrift shopping into dcor. Even the loud patterned clothing can be taken apart so that the fabric can be used for other things. If you want really great stuff from your thrift store shop at the thirft stores in the wealthier areas of town. Paint your rooms a new color. Let your decorative pieces dictate the color scheme by repainting your walls in neutral colors. When you use neutral colors for most of your house you make the job of choosing decorative items easier. Choosing a single wall for a bold shade is also a good idea (if the rest of your walls are in neutral tones). This is a popular form of decorating. Accent walls are cheap and easy to make. Accent walls are great because if you change your mind about the color it can easily be changed.

Be creative! Surely there are things in your home that you can use as decorations. You could use your kitchen cookery as decorations if you take them out of the cupboards and hang them up. Finding the right cooking apparatus is easy when your kitchenware doubles as art!

A cheap (and often free) way to get great photos for your home is to download and print them from sites like Flickr and stock photo sites. The work that is found through stock photo sites or through sites like Flickr is usually considered "open source" so you are almost always free to print the photos yourself or have them printed by professionals. It isn't hard to decorate with great photography if you know where to look for it! This is also an option for the photos you take yourself. There's a ton of affordable and free photo editing software that you can use to touch up your own photos so you can have them printed. Editing your own photos is fun and it can save money.

Quite a few people find that, once they start decorating, the things they want the most are pretty easy to find. It just means that they have to look around and get creative. Empty walls can be just as, if not more, beautiful than a wall crammed full of art.

The idea behind decorating is to keep yourself from going overboard. Decorations don't have to be expensive to be beautiful. Don't go hog wild with expensive galleries and showings. Remember to plan around the decorations you already have when you begin your project. You probably already have stuff in your home that you love and want to use! Tap in to your inner artist! Look into items you already have-surprising things can be used for decorations! Slow and steady wins the race in decorating and will often keep you from overspending!
