Well Worth The Extra Cash - Lawn Trimmer Edger Review
The trencher feature on the Edge Hog merely cuts an edge rather than a wider cut I wanted for the beds to keep the grass from encroaching. It's made for someone about 5'10" max.
He says it is much nicer and easier to use than his old gas-powered edger. There you have it.
The blades on this edge cutter will just crush the grass; it won't give a fine cut, thus leaving the cut edge weird looking. Gladly returned to Lowes. If you tend to hit the concrete sidewalk/driveway a lot check the blade and replace when it gets worn down, otherwise you will be "edging" but not a lot will be happening. I put a new blade on the other day and it's like a brand new edger again! I can't return it once it's been used, so I guess I'll find out how good the B&D warranty process works. I was very impressed by this edger. It's much less hassle to use than a string trimmer and far less expensive and quieter than a gas edger. However, it has a few shortcomings.
Too bad for them I don't lend tools to even family members. It is very quiet even at full blast power. It does what they say it does and no less. It works just fine for edging but I was impressed with the trenching feature.
In the few places where the length of the lawn was short, the EdgeHog performed very well with one cut. I am very pleased with the results and am very happy with the performance of the EdgeHog. So in a few minutes my sidewalk and driveway looks pretty good. Of those who do edge, most of them have no clear dirt line. He said that this Lawn Edge Hog is much lighter than the gas powered weed eater and would recommend it to anyone! Unless you just have to have a gasoline edger for whatever reasons, save your money and get this Edge Hog instead.
I don't have a lot of edging to do and what I do edge is fairly easy - up a driveway and halfway around a pool and the 2 sidewalks leading up to the pool. Did it all the first time in about an hour and a half. Talk about 'the fleecing of America' when it comes to the consumer. It's all around us now and arguably getting worse!
